About Us

About Paul Gunther

Paul Gunther is the founder and owner of Puget Sound Benefits. Paul started in the insurance field in Seattle in 2004 and after working for major insurance carriers, he wanted to expand the options he could offer to his clients.

In 2014, he launched Puget Sound Benefits, LLC, which works with 50+ insurance plans and 12 insurance carriers. Paul’s vision is to be able to help clients navigate the confusing field of Medicare and find the coverage that works best for them. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, enjoying sports, the outdoors and everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

What types of health insurance do WE offer?

Medicare Advantage Plans

Also called Medicare Part C, are plans approved by Medicare, but Administered by private insurance companies.

Medicare Supplement Plans

Also called Medigap plans, are also administered by private insurance companies. These plans keep Original Medicare as your primary insurance and look to fill the “gaps” of what Medicare doesn’t cover

Part D drug plans

These are prescription drug plans administered by private insurance companies. They are optional and help Medicare beneficiaries pay for self administered medication.

Expert Answers to Your Insurance Questions

In most instances, you are eligible for Medicare at age 65. Some individuals may be eligible prior to turning 65 if disabled with End-Stage Renal Disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, or certain other disabilities.  In order to be eligible, you should be on SSDI(Social Security Disability Income) for at least 24 months.

Medicare Advantage plans are private insurance companies that contract with Medicare to take over and administer Medicare benefits.  Medicare Supplement plans keep your Original Medicare as your primary payer and look to fill the “gaps” of what Medicare doesn’t cover

There is no monthly premium for Medicare part A if you worked 40 or more quarters and paid your Medicare taxes.  Or if you are currently married or were married to someone who fits that criteria.

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is from October 15 to December 7.
